About

Hello! My name is Joel and I’m a freelance writer and the creator of this blog. My first “serious” website was Marketing Survival Kit, which has been online since 2000. I’ve been a freelance writer and entrepreneur since 1993. If you have any questions, comments, or feedback about this blog, feel free to contact me.

The primary purpose of this blog is help entrepreneurs discover small business ideas and self employment opportunities that are suited to their interests, talents, financial resources, and market conditions.

Since marketing is such a crucial aspect of business success, I also devote attention to small business marketing strategies, lead generation tactics, and salesmanship. (By the way, if you’re a real estate agent or considering getting into the real estate business, I’ve created a separate blog devoted exclusively to real estate marketing strategies, sales letter templates, real estate flyer templates, email marketing tactics, and direct mail marketing tips for those in the real estate profession.)

Writing Services and Advertising

I have an extensive background in several aspects of marketing and communications, including a 33 years of experience in public relations, journalism, business proposal writing, and article writing. I’ve also gained nearly two decades of experience in Internet marketing, SEO, web content writing, and blogging.

Contact me if you’re looking for professionally written, search engine-friendly content for your website or business blog. (I also consider accepting ads, advertorials, and paid guest blog posts on a limited basis.)

Marketing Tools and Business Guides

I  have affiliate relationships with a number of websites, online publishers, and software companies that cater to the needs of self employed entrepreneurs and small business owners.

One of the marketing tools I feature on this blog is Proposal Kit, a set of templates, business contracts, service agreements, sample business proposals, and proposal writing software that can be used guide you through the proposal writing process. As a former proposal writer, I know how challenging it can be to write and assemble a superior proposal that will make your prospective clients sit up and take notice. Having the documents, proposal examples, and templates right on your computer can streamline the process and help you create a successful proposal or RFP response.  For more information about the business advantages of using proposal software*, check out the article: It’s All About Trust.

Contact me if you any questions about this blog, my content development services, or the informational products and marketing tools I offer through Good Ideas For Starting a Business and Marketing Survival Kit.

Wishing you the best of luck and success in all your entrepreneurial pursuits!
